Those Who Do Not Dance
A crippled child
Said, "How shall I dance?"
Let your heart dance
We said.
Then the invalid said:
"How shall I sing?"
Let your heart sing
We said
Then spoke the poor dead thistle,
"But I, how shall I dance?"
Let your heart fly to the wind
We said.
Then God spoke from above
"How shall I descend from the blue?"
Come dance for us here in the light
We said.
All the valley is dancing
Together under the sun,
And the heart of him who joins us not
Is turned to dust, to dust.
Gabriela Mistral
It has been ten days since Vincent had his stroke. Progress is slow but it is evident. I know the power of a positive outlook. I found this poem and it spoke to me somehow. It reminds me that nothing is set in stone and that anything is possible. Also we can never be sure what unexpected sources may bring us the very moment that will bring us the influences and experiences we require.
Blessing to all who have been so generous with your prayers and thoughts. I truly can feel the energy. I know that many are praying for us at this time and it has taught me that God comes in so many forms, for I feel the healing warmth from each of you.

As The Wheel Turns
Balance, according to Webster is mental and emotional steadiness. Although I do not feel that I have gone off the deep end, I do not feel like I have been very balanced as of late.
After my birthday last year, I had grand plans of all the things I wanted to accomplish and the manner in which I would do just that. Of course there is still a few more months left for me to chip away at the list I created, yet the lack of enthusiasm I have had as of late has not helped matters much. As many of us know when we plan to do something so many times something always seems to come up and "change" things.
"The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry"
Robert Burns
So with that being said I guess I am in good company and should not be too hard on myself. Most definitely this year has turned out to be much different than I had expected it to be. Not necessarily in a bad way just in a different manner. It has taught me lessons and helped me to lose a little of my controlling nature. Something that I guess I needed to work on a bit. A good life lesson is always welcomed, although the tough ones sometimes make me whine a bit. Yet as I look around there has been difference in many areas of life. From the weather to politics there are times when I want to just throw up my hands and say what in the world is going on. Yet the wheel continues to turn as it always does and will. Change is something that will always be among us no matter how much we may cuss it or wish it away
Change is inevitable, growth is intentional
Glenda Cloud
Change is what makes us who we are. How it comes and how we choose to deal with it is what is most important. Do we react or do we respond? Reaction is sudden and often from our emotions. Such times are usually the ones we wish we could go back and change given the chance. The sudden release of intense emotions often feels good initially yet later we see the folly in our actions. Responding is often done over a longer period of time. We consider all that is involved and although we may not make the best decision the one that is eventually made is often a much clearer one.
I know from experience that reacting is usually not the best thing to do. Sitting back and thinking over all the options and all the feelings involved will bring one to a much better conclusion. Thus with this recent change I sit back and try not to over think the situation. I look at the opportunities that have come my way in place of those I had planned on and see that there were other things that needed to be tended to first. I also am able to see the additional blessings that have come my way on this different road. So many times when things do not go our way we jump to all the bad things about the situation and forget to look for the good that may have come from it. I have learned there is always some good in bad things. It may be hard to see let alone accept, yet it is there.
July is almost over and soon the Autumn will come. The circle will have taken its course and all that was to happen will have come to pass. We may not think that it was as it should be yet in its own way it will have been just as it should have been.
Blessings to you and yours

Que Sera Sera
A while back I talked to you about the fact that this was my 50th year of life. I went on and on about how I was going to make the best of this year and do the things I wanted most. I spoke of the vigor I had, not only for life but also in energy and such.
I am wondering today where all that vigor has gone... I know I am getting older and I guess in some ways I have not or maybe do not want to actually face some facts.
I can no longer run the 50 yard dash as fast as I used to.
I bruise now when they take my blood at the doctors;
plus it is harder to find the vein to even take it in the first place.

I can no longer stay out to all hours of the night, drink myself into a stupor and get up and go to work the next day.
Weight is becoming my enemy. When I young I had the pleasure of being able to eat anything and everything I wanted with little recourse. I am well aware of where it is now.... My sizes tell me quite loudly. And losing it is not as easy as it once was.
Where I once tolerated my big melons when I was young even though they were cumbersome and often in the way, I have grown to dislike them intensely and want to trade them in for a smaller pair.
One would think that I had quite the negative attitude with all these statements. I will admit that there are times when I would not mind simply going to sleep and waking up when this was all over. Despite what some may think I am not always little sally sunshine. I will also admit that I do not like getting old or at least some of the things that it brings with it. But such is life and really it doesn't matter what I like or don't like.... it is what it is...
Yet I will admit that aging has also given me some awakenings that I was too blind to see when I was younger.
I don't need to run the 50 yard dash in record time. I never really was a track star anyway.
Although I bruise when I give blood, I do not have to do it often as I rarely go to the doctor unless it is for my allergies or to refill a prescription that has expired.
I never was one for staying out all night and getting snockered. A leisurely glass of wine on my back porch is really all I need. Unless of course it is a Muse concert. Then I seem to find the energy somewhere down deep and I could stay up dancing all night long.
When I turned 40 I remember talking to a woman about all the changes that seemed to be occurring to me after my 40th birthday. She only chuckled and said...
You think 40 is bad... wait til you turn 50.
Que Sera... Sera...

A Surprise In The Post
The other day I was welcomed home with a wonderful package in the post. I could see that it came from across the pond and the first thing that came to mind was the arrival of my fairy crowns.
I carefully opened the outside that was wrapped so securely as to not allow the turbulence of travel to damage it in any manner. Underneath the carefully wrapped package I found yet another delicately wrapped package in a deep shade of purple. Being my favorite color of course it brought a smile across my face. Tied with a ribbon to match and one of black I carefully untied the bow and unwrapped the tissue paper that encircled it.
Another box lay beneath the wrappings and atop lay 3 note cards with prints of pictures that I have often admired of the artist. Of course I could never use such note cards. Although I would love to share their fancy with friends I intend to put these into a frame and hang in my special room along with other things that are dear to my heart.
As I raised the cards from the box I saw what I had been waiting for, the set of fairy crowns for my granddaughter and myself. Both are a rich purple and a shade of Cinderella blue with mine being dominantly purple and hers blue. The detail of the work amazed me. They were simply beautifully done and I know that much love went into the creation of them. Jo would email me consistently throughout their design and construction to give me updates on them as well as photos to show me. However I will say that photos do not do any justice to showing the true craftsmanship that is put into these.
I am so taken by them that I am considering sewing a linen dress for my grand daughter to go with her crown so that when she comes and visits she can go down beneath my Elm where the fae like to play and dance with them. Thank you Jo so much for your wonderful gift and wonderful creations. You truly gave me a blessing one that I am sure will bless me for years to come.
I invite you to visit Jo's shop of wares over at Tangle Frost. She is quite the artist.
