Marigolds & Gingersnaps

Yesterday proved to be a full day for me... Knowing that I had several outdoor things that needed to be done and that the days to come were going to be either very wet of much colder (and possibly both) I knew this was my only time to put a dent into any of the chores which called me so loudly...
The morning was beautiful.  The sun shone in an absolute beautiful blue sky, something that has not been around much lately.  I was able to fill all my bird feeders (8 to be exact) and clean my marigold bed out.  There were still some flowers  yet with the possibility of a freeze this weekend I decided to go ahead and do it.  I took many of the extra flowers and decorated my willows around my pond... Also some of the heads I worked and tossed for seeds next year.  The rest I hung in the barn for a later time.  The cats enjoyed following me around the yard as I decorated the willows.  It was a beautiful sight.
Rain clouds blew in a bit early so by noon I was back inside.  Yet I made good use of my time... I have been promising my son some gingersnaps for some time and it was a perfect time to bake... A nice steady rain outdoors... Packaged them up with a nice little note and took them to the post office as soon as they were cool enough to package.
It has been a grand October thus far... and only 7 days into it.... Makes me wonder what the next 24 days may have in store...

Sounds like a beautiful day. I'm sure your son will be excited to receive the cookies! I feel the same about October. It's been wonderful already and I'm looking forward to the rest.

What a wonderful way to spend the day! I would love to see that Willow all decorated with the marigolds - I bet it's beautiful!

Your weather report is similar to mine here, even the cats inclusive.

Fall means there will fall a lot, and yes that is rain and leaves from the trees, but in between that i still have the most amazing sunny times. Where I live the '4 seasons in 1 day' is very much present this time of year.

Post office people get the most ordinary packages to start sending and when I would get a package like that being delivered like your son will have I would have a very hard time to not immediately take a piece, or maybe a very easy time when no one's looking. Cookie monster could be a nickname for me.

You wonder what the next days have in store, well let me give you two keywords .. Woodmans's Garden.

Well I am gone troppo again :)

Oh Janie...don't tell me you're a good cook too...

I can almost smell the marigolds...do you really get frosts so early...we hardly get them here.

How's your room getting on...have you done any more to it?

I cleaned my oven, stove eyes and my filthy microwave...I've heard cleaning your stove creates good chi for $$! LOL!

Anyhow, got that oven all clean and then baked a casserole and then my pumpkin cake!

I'll let you know if the $$ start rolling in! ;D

yum - freshly made gingersnap. We're having the same thing weatherwise around here in Northwest Ohio. It should be warmer and sunnier yet this early in October, but maybe we'll still have an indian summer in November - we can hope. I have to take advantage when the sun comes out and warms up too to get all the little fall chores done around the yard. Hope you have a good weekende
